Overview of your tour
Our Private Lisbon City Tour is the ideal excursion for first-time Lisbon travelers or those who’d like to learn from a trustworthy local! Benefit from the undivided attention of your local guide as we explore everything from Lisbon’s most iconic sites to hidden gems only Lisboans know.
Our first stop is a viewpoint in the city to soak up the incredible panoramic views over Lisbon. Here you will get a historical overview of Lisbon and better understand how Lisbon expanded in all the hills. We’ll then make our way down to Alfama, passing by the Castle, the Cathedral, and the old quarter of Mouraria. Next, we head to Baixa, Lisbon’s official center, to learn about the city’s devastating earthquake and how this area rose from the ashes.
Continuing our historical and cultural drive, we pass by Restauradores Square and head to Avenida da Liberdade. One of Lisbon’s most important avenues, and often called the “Portuguese Champs-Élysées”, Avenida’s relaxing atmosphere makes the perfect transition to the rest of our morning.
On top of Avenida, you will be able to enjoy a magnificent view of the city and learn about the dictatorship period that ended in Portugal in 1974.
Our Lisbon tour continues to Príncipe Real, an upscale area in the city center, famous for its mansions, bars, and premier shopping destination showcasing local designers.
We will then travel to Bairro Alto, a bohemian neighborhood in Lisbon with steep cobbled streets, passing by the viewpoint Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara and the São Roque church.
Our Lisbon Tour continues to Lisbon’s riverside Cais do Sodré, where we will see the famous Mercado da Ribeira.
Next, we head to Belém, always traveling along the river. Belém is a neighborhood in Lisbon with a set of historical buildings. Here you will learn about the plight of Portuguese explorers and take in the most significant monuments, such as the Jerónimos Monastery and the Belém Tower. We’ll then sample traditional custard tart (Pastel de Belém) at Lisbon’s famous pastry cafe – Pastéis de Belém.
On the way to your hotel/accommodation, we will pass by the Parliament and the Basílica da Estrela.
You can also opt to have your drop-off at the Campo de Ourique Market to have your lunch in the food court attached to the market. Witness vendors selling vibrant fruit and vegetables. With a variety of meat and fish dishes, sandwiches and desserts, there is bound to be something that appeals to everyone.

We had a private tour with Filipa that allowed us to see Lisbon as an overview from a local’s perspective and our own pace. It was perfect in every way. Filipa was kind, considerate, flexible and a fountain of knowledge. It’s clear she researches in considerable depth and far beyond the likely questions and history. She is diplomatic as well as witty. We felt like we were with a life long friend. Her recommendations and advice were invaluable. So lucky to have found her.
Filipa was our guide and she was nothing short of phenomenal. Tour was excellent and she pointed us towards excellent food spots multiple times. Probably the best tour of our two week vacation. Also a great way to see multiple spots near Lisbon in a single day.
